Meet the Dean - Elizabeth L. Errico, Ph.D., R.N.

Elizabeth L. Errico, Ph.D., R.N.

Dean, Faculty of Nursing

Dr. Elizabeth L. Errico's nursing school education began at Misericordia Hospital School of Nursing  in the Bronx.  She graduated with a diploma and passed the N.C.L.E.X. R.N.  Further academic studies  resulted in a B.S.N. from  Hunter College New York funded by a New York State Scholarship for Advanced  Study in Nursing , followed by a Master’s  Degree in Biophysical Pathology  and a Ph.D. from New York University both funded by Federal Traineeships.

Dr. Errico has had extensive clinical experience in a variety of settings from coronary acute care to care of patients with multisystem failure, rehabilitation, community based care and care of the terminally ill. As an educator she has worked in public and private institutions with students from Associate to Graduate level. Most of these students were from underserved minorities and low income groups.

As a professor coordinator and chair she assumed responsibility for a program on the verge of closure by the New York State Department of the Professions. She reorganized the program brought it into compliance and the revitalized program was subsequently  approved by New York State.  Many  of the classes rose to 100% pass rate on the N.C.L.E.X. examination.

An expert in curriculum development Dr. Errico devised a one plus one college credit bearing program. It was the first program approved for a proprietary school in New York State where the students were from academically challenged backgrounds.  The success was noteworthy.

Dr. Errico has served on various boards, panels and task forces aimed at improving the quality of nursing education and patient care. She is currently working on an online program  for Master’s degree candidates.
