Meet the Dean - Stephen A. Daniel, M.A., Ph.D.

Dr. Daniel received his Bachelor’s Degree from Queens College (CUNY), his Master’s Degree in Experimental Psychology from Western Michigan University and his Doctor of Philosophy in Experimental Psychology/Psychopharmacology from the University of Minnesota in 1978. He then completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Behavioural Toxicology at the New York University School of Medicine’s Institute of Environmental Medicine.

Professor Daniel has been a National Institute of Health Fellow. He also has been the recipient of numerous grants in the fields of research training for students, drug abuse prevention and geropsychology. In addition, he has an abiding interest in faculty development and training for proposal writing. He has presented grant workshops to Midway College, Columbia College, University of the District of Columbia, Spelman College and Drexel University.

Dr. Daniel is a Professor Emeritus of Psychology at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY and the former Director of the Office of Research Development. He has had a wide range of administrative experience in academia.

Dr. Daniel has worked in the field of geropsychology for the past 15 years. He owns two geropsycholohgy companies; one in New York and one in New Jersey. He has provided direct care to long-term and sub acute care residents, and has created and conducted in-service programmes. He has lectured at many national conferences, including the American College of Health Care Administrators (National and Regional meetings) as well as the American Psychological Association, the Orthopsychiatry Association, and the Gerontology Institute of New Jersey.

Professor Daniel has taught many courses on the undergraduate and graduate level, as well as conducting training to staffs at a variety of facilities. In addition, he is a consultant to drug abuse and dual diagnosis treatment centres.
